Service Opportunities

Volunteers are vital to the heartbeat of Lazarus Ministries. With the support of almost 2000 volunteers each year, Lazarus Ministries is significantly effecting change in the lives Grand Avenue’s Sojourners.

Meal Service Teams

For each meal served at Grand Avenue a team of volunteers is required to assist our staff in preparing and serving the meal. Teams are scheduled through the church office and usually book several months in advance, so check your calendar’s and contact us today at volunteer@grandavenuetempleumc.org

Meal Service Volunteer Opportunities Include:

Community Breakfast Volunteers (3-5 individuals needed)
Sundays – 6:30AM – 8:30AM

Lazarus Table Lunch Teams (Teams 10 – 12)
Saturday 10:00AM -1:30PM or Sunday 9:00AM – 1:30PM

Clothing Boutique Teams

Volunteers serve as a “Personal Shopper” each Saturday to assist in selecting sizes and fulfilling all needs of the Sojourners visiting the boutique. With a personal shopper, we can ensure each individual receives what they need and gets the correct sizes, but it also provides a sense of dignity to have a volunteer’s undivided attention for even just a few moments.

Teams of about 8 people are needed every Saturday in the boutique from 10:30AM – 1:30PM.

Youth Work Teams

Groups interested in service projects or wanting to learn more about homelessness in the urban core are invited to join us at Grand Avenue Temple. Spend a day or stay a overnight and be a part of our ministries. Youth work days are crafted to fit the needs of each group, please contact the church office for details.

 

Individuals

While most of our volunteer opportunities are geared towards groups, individuals are welcome to volunteer independently. We have many customized tasks available which require orientation and discovery and can often use help in the Boutique certain Saturday’s each month. Contact our office and we’ll find a time that works for you as well as our staff and we’ll identify a task that suits your interests and our needs.
